Michael co-founded Panometals in 2011 and is responsible for overseeing the company’s global marketing and sales.

Michael has spent his entire career in Non-Ferrous scrap trading - starting as a cadet with Sims Metal in 1984 where he learned all facets of the metals recycling industry from the ground up before taking on various trading/management roles in NZ , USA and UK for Sims before moving to Shanghai with EMR and eventually returning back to head SimsMM’s Global central marketing entity in Hong Kong after the GFC he finally decided to breakaway from corporate life to establish the “best” NF scrap trading business in the world.

Finance Director | Panometals

Kurt joined PanO in late 2015 and is responsible for finance, accounting, treasury, tax, compliance, HR and Admin.

His career started in 1997 with Gerber Technology in Brussels – HQ EMEA where he served for 5 years and continued as Head of Finance in APAC for the 13 years to follow.  He combines his 25 plus years of experience and passion in finance and accounting with his passion for football (active and passive)!

He finally saw the light and moved to the recycling industry in 2015.

Procurement Director | Panometals

Matt co-founded Panometals in 2011 and is responsible for overseeing the company’s global procurement.

Matt has over 30 year’s experience in Non-Ferrous scrap trading predominantly throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia. His career started as a cadetship with Sims Metal in 1992 where he learnt all facets of the metals recycling industry. He held various management roles throughout Australia within the Trading division. 

Matt started Panometals not to be the biggest, he just wants to be the best! 

Trading Manager | Panometals

Richard joined Panometals in 2020 and overseas all trading activities in Australia and New Zealand and supports the management’s teams strategic objectives.

Richard has had a long career in the scrap industry, starting as an oxy cutter in the early 90’s in Australia and has held numerous operational and commercial roles in Australia and UK with A. Cohen, Sims, OneSteel and EMR. He brings a wealth of experience from managing complex operations, multiple disciplined commercial teams and driving change through rapid growth.

Trader | Panometals

With over 20 years in the Fast-moving consumer goods industry with some of Australia’s largest Multi nationals; Troy’s experience as a senior Sales and Marketing Manager working with our key National retailers enabled him to develop strategies and foster key business relationships.

Troy joined the Panometals team in August 2022 and has brought across this experience to the Metal recycling industry.

Swapping beer, biscuits and coffee for Copper and Aluminum, he is enjoying the challenge of managing and growing the NSW, Victoria and New Zealand markets enabling long term sustainable business growth.

Trader | Panometals

“Cube” as he is affectionately known by all, joined the Panometals team as a trainee in 2023 based in Hong Kong.

Cube holds an Honours degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Portsmouth, providing him with a strong technical foundation in sustainability, resource efficiency, and the circular economy. Cube has also been actively involved in on-the-ground exposure to recycling operations and supply chain processes, gaining practical insight into processing, sourcing, and market dynamics through the sales position he held within the organisation.

He is currently covering our supply base in Queensland.

Claes Merborn is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the metals recycling industry. Throughout his career, he has held several CEO positions across small, medium-sized, and large groups, demonstrating strong leadership and strategic expertise. His extensive experience in the sector has positioned him as a key figure in driving business growth and operational efficiency. Based in Sweden, Claes has recently joined Panometals to lead its European division, bringing his wealth of industry knowledge and leadership skills to the company.
